Buying extra pension for cohabiting partners

Do you have any membership before 6 April 1988? if so, this won’t count towards a pension for your nominated cohabiting partner unless you pay extra to make it count.

Nominating a cohabiting partner to receive a pension

You can either pay for...

* All this membership, or
* One or more full years of this membership

You can spread the cost over any number of years up to your 65th birthday, and the deadline to sign up for this is 31 March 2011.

Ill health cover
If you sign up for this option, but then retire early through ill health, we will treat all the partner’s membership you had agreed to buy as being paid for. As a result, before you can sign up for this, your doctor must agree that you are in reasonably good health and are not suffering from any medical condition which would prevent you from working until age 65.

The cost to you
The cost will be an extra percentage contribution, taken directly from your pay. If you would like us to send you an estimate of the cost, please click on the link below.
