If you die on pension Lump sum life cover for members who retired on or after 1 April 2008 If you die on pension before your 75th birthday, we will pay out a lump sum if you die before you have drawn ten years’ full pension (in other words your pension before any reductions).

Who we will pay the lump sum to
We have the final discretion to decide who to pay, but we will always take your wishes into account.

If you don’t nominate (or we cannot follow your wishes) we will normally pay the lump sum to your estate.
