When you die, we will pay a pension to your husband/wife or your civil partner or your nominated cohabiting partner and your dependant children.

If you die on pension

The amount of pension is based on the membership & pay you retired with, and depends on which dependants you leave...

Pension for husband, wife, civil partner or nominated cohabiting partner
PAY x MEMBERSHIP ÷ 160
Only based on membership from 6 April 1988 for civil partners and nominated cohabiting partners.


Pension for ONE child, where we also pay a pension to your husband/wife/civil partner or nominated cohabiting partner
PAY x MEMBERSHIP ÷ 320


Pension for ONE child, where there is NO pension for a husband/wife/civil partner or nominated cohabiting partner
PAY x MEMBERSHIP ÷ 240


Pension for TWO OR MORE children, where we also pay a pension to your husband/wife/civil partner or nominated cohabiting partner
PAY x MEMBERSHIP ÷ 160


Pension for TWO OR MORE children, where there is NO pension for a husband/wife/civil partner or nominated cohabiting partner
PAY x MEMBERSHIP ÷120

Please note If you got married after you retired, not all your membership may count towards a pension for your husband/wife/civil partner/nominated cohabiting partner.
