Tameside is the administering authority for the Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF). The Management Panel consists of Tameside members appointed by Tameside MBC and five members co-opted by Tameside via AGMA.

The Advisory Panel work closely with the Management Panel and advises them in all areas. Each local authority is represented on the Advisory Panel, and there are six employee representatives nominated by the North West TUC.

The Panels meet in tandem, quarterly throughout the municipal year. GMPF also has four working groups; Ethics and Audit, Information Services, Local Initiatives and Venture Capital and Property, which consider particular areas of its activities and make recommendations to the Management Panel.
