If you joined the Scheme on or after 1 April 2005 we will normally only accept a transfer from another LGPS employer or scheme which is part of the Public Sector Transfer Club.
Public Sector Transfer Club: This includes the Civil Service, the NHS, the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, and even some charities and private organisations. If you aren’t sure whether your scheme was part of this club, we can check for you. |
|
LGPS transfers: If you have deferred benefits from a previous LGPS employment you can choose to either leave the benefits separate, or transfer the membership. If you want to transfer you must normally do this within 12 months of joining, although your employer can allow you more time if they think there is good reason.
Deferred benefits section
If you didn’t build up enough membership to entitle you to deferred benefits, we will link this to your new membership automatically, as long as you tell us about your earlier employment.
Frequently asked questions for transferring in
If you already draw a pension from this Scheme: Whether or not you join the Scheme again, you must tell the local authority fund which pays your pension about your new job. They will then check to see whether or not they have to reduce your pension.
If you have been paying AVCs you may be able to transfer them into our in house AVC scheme.
