How to cancel Being a member of the scheme is one of the best perks of the job - but it isn't compulsory, you can cancel your membership at any time. To cancel you should contact your employer's pensions officer in writing including your National Insurance number or payroll number.

You can ask them to cancel your membership any time after your request. Otherwise, they will just cancel it from the start of the next pay period.

Warning
Apart from the main retirement benefits, you will lose out on extras, such as ill health cover and you will normally have to pay into some other form of pension anyway.
