Is there any way I can continue to contribute after I have left my employment?
Not unless you join another employer who is part of the LGPS and your new employer allows you to join. If not, you can no longer contribute to the Fund once you have left.
My job is being transferred to a private company. Will I have to leave the Fund? |
|
This will depend on the type of job transfer taking place. You should speak to your employer to find out more information and to find out what will happen to your pension. If your job is being transferred to a private company, this company will normally be required to provide a pension scheme that offers similar benefits. Alternatively, the company may be able to apply to become an employer of the Fund. If this application is accepted you should be able to remain as member of the Fund. You should contact your employer for confirmation of what is to happen in your case.
My employer has dismissed me. Will I still have the same options as I would if I had resigned?
Yes, unless you have been dismissed due to gross misconduct. If this is the case, your employer could have a say in what happens to your pension benefits. In either case, we will follow your employer’s instructions, so you will need to contact your employer directly to find out more.
