A refund is simply where we pay you back the money you have paid in (but not your employer). It is normally only open to you if you have less than three months’ membership, you are under 65, and you haven’t brought in a transfer in the past. |

Frequently asked questions
You will get back your own contributions, less tax, and an amount of National Insurance to put you back into the State additional pension.
The earliest we can pay your refund is a month and two days after you leave. If we pay it more than 12 months after you leave, we will add interest to cover the period from the date you left.
Please note: if you join any fund in the LGPS before we have paid the refund, we will have to cancel it, and link your membership instead.
