We actually use your final pay - this is normally your pay taken over your final year, or one of the two years before that if better.
Pay cuts: If you face a pay cut you can choose to use an earlier pay figure - please ask if you are affected by this. When we work out your benefits, we will look back year by year to find the best year's pay in the last five years, or the best three year average in the last 13 years.
