As working people, most of us pay into the Basic State Pension through our National Insurance contributions. On top of this most of us have to pay into some other sort of pension too, such as:
Greater Manchester Pension Fund is an example of this. Your employer pays into this too.

You normally arrange this through a bank or building society. The level of benefits depends on how well the investment performs and your employer is unlikely to pay into it.
Provides a simple pension, but no other benefits such as a lump sum on retirement.
If you don’t pay into a company pension scheme and don’t have a Personal/Stakeholder Pension, you normally have to pay into this.
