GMPF is developing its approach to certain aspects of the 2010 Actuarial Valuation and is now consulting on a proposed re-drafted version of its ‘Funding Strategy Statement’ (FSS).

GMPF consults all sections of its membership. The Strategy is a continuous rolling programme with a 3 year cycle. The objective being to understand members' opinions of the service, areas of improvement and to identify access issues.

The Core Belief Statement sets out the Fund’s key investment beliefs. These beliefs will form the foundation of discussions, and assist decisions, regarding the structure of the Fund, strategic asset allocation and the selection of investment managers.

* Funding Strategy Statement

The FSS is a summary of GMPF's approach to funding liabilities. This statement sets out how the Administering Authority has balanced the conflicting aims of affordability of contributions, transparency of processes, stability of employers' contributions and prudence in the funding basis.

It is the Fund's policy to routinely publish full listings of its Holdings (excluding direct property) once per annum, as at the end of the accounting year, in conjunction with the final audit sign off of the Fund's Annual Report and Accounts.

This manual aims to help all those with a specific role in relation to the LGPS rules on ill-health retirement, to understand those rules and their role properly. It will also interest Scheme members, employee representatives and others wishing to find a clear, concise explanation of how the LGPS deals with ill-health issues.
