The youngest age you can retire

Minimum age requirement
If you retire before 60 for any reason except ill health, there is a minimum age requirement. This is:

Age 55: if you joined from 1 April 2008
Age 50: if you were already a member on 31 March 2008 and retire before 1 April 2010.

So remember, this applies to any of these types of retirement:

Retiring before normal retirement at your own choice
Flexible retirement
Retirement through redundancy/efficiency
