Sick leave You pay your normal contribution rate on whatever pay you receive. If you are on less than your normal pay, or even not paid, your membership still builds up as usual. So there is no effect on your pension benefits.
And what’s more, if you are off sick close to retirement, this won’t harm the pay we use to work out your benefits, as we will use the typical pay you would have received.
